Re: Error message: 3 contradictions in 6744 observations ...
Hi Bea, This error message related to an instance of us using a Stata assert command within runmlwin to check that the binary response variable for your multilevel logit model was indeed binary. You received an error message as we hadn't allowed for the possibility of missing response values. We hav...

Do-files to replicate entire MLwiN User & MCMC Manuals
You can now find Stata do-files to replicate all the analyses presented in both the MLwiN User Manual and the MLwiN MCMC manual: http://www.bristol.ac.uk/cmm/software/runmlwin/examples/ These do-files replicate not just all model results, but they also replicate all the data manipulation, model pred...

Re: How do you report fixed parameters as Odds ratios?
Hi Bea, We have now implemented options to display the fixed part parameter estimates in many of runmlwin's multilevel discrete response models in their exponentiated form: (1) Use the or option to get odds ratios in multilevel binomial response logit models and in multilevel ordered response multin...

Re: Model Failure, exiting procedure
Hi Adrian, We have now implemented the variances sub option to the residuals option. This new option allows users to request the posterior variances for their residuals rather than the default of the posterior standard deviations. Using this option will also get around the error which you ran into p...

Re: Error message: 3 contradictions in 6744 observations ...
Hi Bea, The runmlwin command makes use of several standard Stata commands. This is an error message relating to one of those. However, because you can't see what runmlwin is doing behind the scenes, it is not clear what the error message is referring to. What we need to do is to put more informative...

Re: Number of groups (e(N_g))
Hi Roberto, The bug you spotted was one that we had actually come across before (it had been spotted by a colleague of yours!). The bug has been fixed in the current release version of runmlwin. The reason you ran into it was because you had an older version of runmlwin. We are frequently releasing ...

Re: Model Failure, exiting procedure
Hi Adrian, The cause of your error message is that some of the posterior variances of your residuals are negative. MLwiN attempts to take the square root of these posterior variances in order to calculate the posterior standard errors. You can't square root negative numbers hence the MLwiN error mes...

Thanks Roberto,
Please could you email us the do-file and dataset so we can replicate this problem.
Many thanks
George

Good question!
Answer is no not currently, but this should be easy to add. We will look
into implementing this asap.

Re: MCMC estimation
Hi Janna, We are currently developing the MCMC functionality of runmlwin and we about half way through doing this. This is why we have not yet documented the options. The options are also subject to change as we continue our development and receive feedback from users like you! We therefore currentl...
