R2MLwiN and multilevel multiple imputation

Hi, I have a simple question, but didn't want to dive in before I know the answer to... what's the ideal approach to conduct multiple imputations of multilevel data in R using R2MLwiN? I know there are options like REALCOM and Stat-JR but I do not have access to these software. Also, it would be muc...

Re: Inconsistent results from runmlwin and svy:mean

Dear Sun, Not sure, but am not that experienced in Stata's svyset commands runmlwin should give the same results as Stata's mixed command. So suggest you first compare your svyset method to mixed (where you use the mixed weights options). Assuming mixed and runmlwin give same results, Suggest then ...

Inconsistent results from runmlwin and svy:mean

Hello, Edit: I should provide more contexts. I am analyzing a complex survey (multistage sampling) design data. I wanted to compare a multilevel method using a MLwin and a svyset method in Stata. The actual data structure is three levels but below I am only showing as a level 1 structure to simplify...

Re: Extracting regression results

Thanks for the references. We did work on getting texreg to work with R2MLwiN, see https://www.bristol.ac.uk/cmm/media/r2mlwin/MCMCGuide04.Rout for another example of using this, as well as the memisc package. Last time I looked at stargazer it didn't provide the option to extend it for more estima...

Re: Extracting regression results

Which packages are you trying? We might be able to investigate whether it is possible to add support in a later version of R2MLwiN. You should be able to calculate these values yourself as follows: # coefficients coef(result_x36_main) # standard errors sqrt(diag(vcov(result_x36_main))) # z-score co...

Extracting regression results

Hello, what are some package options for extracting regression coefficients for R2MLwiN? I find that some packages won't work because they don't extract from S4 class. This is a type of models that I am running (i.e., two level random intercept model). I want to extract fixed and random effects coef...

Re: Wald test and SE of variances

Hi Sun, the Wald test is only an approximate test for variance parameters as they do not have a normal distribution. That withstanding the test will form the difference of the 2 variances and then work out the SE for this difference to test for significance. This SE is made up of the SE for each pa...

Wald test and SE of variances

I ran a complex level-1 model for two groups, let's say group 1 and group 2. I now have variance estimate for each group and its standard error (SE). I see if the two variances are significantly different from each other by adding and subtracting 1.96*SE to each estimate and check if they overlap. S...

Re: jackknife replicate weight in runmlwin

Hi Sun Lee, Yes you can specify weights in runmlwin. You need to specify weights at each level in the model. See the help file and search for "weight" to find the weights options. Unfortunately we do not have an example to show you. There is an example in the Stata ME manual for their -mi...

Re: jackknife replicate weight in runmlwin

alternatively, would the sandwich estimator in the runmlwin work fine for correcting standard errors, instead of using jackknife replicate weights? If this is the case, I will just go with the sandwich estimator...although they seem to be developed for different purposes.
