error: design vector at level 2 is the wrong length (moni)

Dear all,
I am performing a ordered multinomial multilevel analysis with three levels. I encounter no problems when I use the 1st order MQL setting, but when I change to 2nd order PQL I get the error message 'error: design vector at level 2 is the wrong length (moni)'. Is anyone familiair with this message and able to explain to me what it means?
