ivmlwin first stage

Hello, forum, I have two questions. I'm running mlwin from within Stata and am using the ivmlwin macro to estimate a three-level growth model (age nested within kids nested within mothers). I would like to get the first stage F from the two-stage model. This was not doable about a year ago. Can it b...

Setting up a THREE-LEVEL MODEL

Hi, I just want to make sure I'm setting up my three-level growth model correctly. I'm familiar with time-varying variables like age and age-squared being at level 1 and time-invariant individual-level variables being at level 2; individuals are nested in level 3. Is this the same convention that ML...

Re: HELP setting up multiple membership model

Thanks, gentlemen, I think I get that I should set up my model as a three-level model since I have repeated measures of students nested within schools. Given that my data is longitudinal, however, and given that I should only have one line per individual, i.e., the data must be in wide format, I'm c...

HELP setting up multiple membership model

I'll be assisting someone setup a multiple membership model and need a little guidance. First, about the data: It's repeated measures of students within schools. Children are nested in one school per year. There are five years of data, which means children can attend a maximum of five schools throug...

Re: Three-level growth using Instrumental Variable

Chris,

One more question: Can I get first-stage results from either your .ado code or the ivmlwin macro? I want to report my F statistic and make sure the instrument(s) chosen is(are) good. Maybe there's a postestimation command in runmlwin that will give me what I need.

Re: Three-level growth using Instrumental Variable

Chris, Since I've been able to run a complete IV model in MLwiN 2.26 (I had to downgrade), I want to try running it from within Stata using the .ado file you created. I've tried the example you've given, which uses the dataset called up with the runmlwin examples. I just want to make sure I understa...

Interaction with Instrumented Variable

So now that I'm past all my issues with getting my model with instrumental variables to run, I am wondering how I handle interactions of instrumented variables. I believe I should multiply my instrument by the variables I want to interact with and then use these as instruments. For instance, I have ...

I see what I was doing wrong. I think I have it now. Thanks so much.
