Sudden file corruption

Post by csswadron »

Hello,

the worksheet file I have been working on will suddenly not open. The program tries and then crashes immediately.

(1) it opens previous versions with no problem, even though they are larger and have the same worksheet size (about 10 000 columns although 70% are unfilled)
(2) the version is the free 30 day trial. I did the tutorial and started working my own data
(3) I assume it is not a ram problem since I have cleared it out before starting the program.

any ideas? This is several days of work lost.

Is the worksheet similar in file size to the ones that do work, if not then it might indicate that something has prevented it from saving completely? If you look in your temporary directory for large files with a similar date then it's possible that an intermediate version is saved there. Otherwise if you are able to send me the file I can check whether it contains anything recoverable.

Hi, maybe you are right about the save not completing. I could not find any temporary files, unfortunately. and indeed the worksheet size is the same as previously successfully saved versions. I can send you the file, please let me know where to. Will not let me upload wsz here.
