Error message when using 'extra negative binomial'resulting in MLWin shutting down

Post by sonnasonna »

Hi,

Next to my previous questions, I have another question: I am using Negative binomial models but I keep getting the following error in MLWiN everytime I choose for “extra negative binomial”:
“IGLS/RIGLS numeric warning
SSP matrix for fixed part has gone negative definite - a reconstruction to the nearest non-negative form has been used. Numeric warnings can be suppressed by setting an option on the Estimation Control IGLS/RIGLS panel. A discussion on the possible causes of numeric problems can be found under the topic Numeric Problems in the help system”

After clicking yes a couple of times, I eventually get the following message after which MLwiN shuts down:
“Run-time error 6: Overflow “

Any idea how to solve this issue ?
Could somebody please respond to my message that I posted almost a week ago?

Many thanks
Soenita

It may just be that your data are unsuitable for the model that you are trying, however if you were able to provide me an example worksheet, along with instructions on how to replicate the crash I will attempt to track down why the software is crashing.
